Why can't they just share the chemical formulae with international governments and have them order their own local parmacy manufacturers to produce the same salts under similar conditions ? The national research institutes could even improve upon the formulae w.r.t temp and pressure requirements and could even improve the shelf life of the vaccine. What's wrong in that ?

Two points. First you did not explore the option of military aid, I would suspect that military infrastructure like big cargoplanes could be used and that countries would like to utilize them. Especially since military is better equipped to drop in areas with lesser quality infrastructure. Second I don't think the prevented deaths wil be remembered. People never remember the possible death count. Otherwise antivaxxers wouldn't be a thing if the devastating effects of polio and others where still in the public consciousness

It is 65 years since a “wonder drug” as a palliative to morning sickness in pregnant women was brought to the market, first in Germany where Grünenthal manufactured Contergan, and then in the UK where it was known principally as Thalidomide. The drug was not properly tested in Germany, and was not tested at all in the UK. Just look at the horrendous results - many thousands of teratogenic foetuses and live births. Lives and families were destroyed. Only the insistence of the late Dr Frances Kelsey at the US Food and Drug Administration that there had to be evidence of the safety of Thalidomide before approving it for sale prevented a catastrophe in that country. A disaster must not be born out of a mad rush for a Covid vaccine.

@Si Manda thousands of people have already been given the vaccine and there have been non serious reactions linked to it. We also know the structure of the vaccine and see that it’s unlikely to cause harm to our cells. With both of those we can conclude it’s safe. Unlike the virus which, while it mostly kills those over 70, still does kill tens of thousands younger than that. And it makes people sick of all ages. Younger people are more likely to be asymptomatic, but most people experience symptoms, and another portion of the younger population experienced long-term effects.

@Si Manda a sore arm, some chills and a couple other minor symptoms seem to be fairly common. Much more mundane and less dangerous than the coronavirus. In the clinical trials there was no evidence of widespread major adverse reactions, so they likely are extremely rare or nonexistent. Making taking the vaccine less dangerous than risking COVID.

Why not have people come to the vaccine instead of the vaccine going to them? E.g. create a "Vaccine hub" in Rochester, NY and have all of the people from the surrounding towns come to Rochester instead of shipping the vaccine to the hundreds of little towns in upstate NY?

Both my parents are surgeons who have dealt with covid patients. Tested negative the whole year :) As long as they follow heath protocols and wear PPE properly, it reduces the chance of contracting the virus significantly.
